Also known as “ANewd”, Andi is a graduate of the University of Manitoba (she’s originally from Canada!) with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and also a graduate from Duke University with an MBA. Andi claims her first language is math. An analytical and logical thinker, Andi uses these skills in coaching athletes, breaking down movements into achievable steps and always explaining the “why.”
A competitive athlete since high school, she transitioned to a globo gym after collegiate sports, and has always been a bit of a personal coach to friends and family encouraging loved ones to be the best version of themselves. She was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 by her brother and was hooked from day one. She received her Level 1 CrossFit Certification December 2018, along side her husband and fellow Rebel Coach Brian “BNewd.”
Andi’s coaching style is logical of course! If you need a strategy on how to plan to get through a workout; Andi is your go-to. She is positive, but tough; she encourages people to feel challenged but not overwhelmed. She’ll be the one rooting for you, encouraging you, and pushing you to be your absolute best.
A definite extrovert, Andi enjoys time outside of the box traveling and spending time with her husband, friends, and dogs. She also likes change, and facilitates change often in life; however, CrossFit has been a constant. The fact that she still loves the sport since starting in 2011, is a testament to powerful CrossFit is. According to Andi, “It’s the best fitness movement I’ve ever seen. It’s about health and community and doing good for yourself and others.”
Andi loves wall balls and burpees because “you’re never going to fail at them. They suck the life out of you, but you can always do one more.” She likes the mental challenge to push through the pain.
