Day 20 – PANTRIES

MONDAY…DAY 20! One point five days left!   You’ve got this!

I’m going to start pinching you guys (those of you who are active in the challenge have priority) tomorrow. I’ll be there open to close and try to get you BEFORE you train. I’ll be there Tuesday night, Wednesday midday and PM and Friday open and midday.

So this was spawned from conversations with ya’ll on wanting some variety from “the same old stuff”. That comes from having a well stocked pantry and knowing what combinations of food and spices create familiar flavors. And trust me, trial and error is the ONLY way to figure this stuff out and have a good time with it. Some of my biggest failures are Ed and my fondest memories!

  • Olives, green and cans of green and black
  • Salsa
  • Grain free chips like Siete’s
  • Pickles
  • Tomato sauce, diced, fire roasted
  • Coconut Milk
  • Water Chestnuts
  • Adobo peppers
  • Nuts & seeds: walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts (mashed make a good crust)
  • Rice and white rice pasta
  • Potatoes (all)
  • Raisins, dried fruits like cranberries too
  • Canned fish (tuna, salmon)
  • Flours (coconut, almond tapioca)
  • Cans of baby corn (not really corn!)
  • Spices (think Mexican: chili powder and cumin, Italian: parsley, oregano, thyme, Greek: oregano, Indian: curry and ginger)
  • ….why didn’t I think of just doing this:

  • 50 ESSENTIALS TO A WELL STOCKED PANTRY

Having a well stocked pantry is key in being able to not live day in and day out on ground beef, rice or potatoes and broccoli. While those are excellent choices, we’re not animals in a zoo and variety is a pleasure as humans we enjoy.
