Paleo V, Day 22, Thanksgiving Recipes!

Monday, 11/12/2012

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOUTH and MELLY!

FOOD JOURNALS ARE DUE TODAY! AND MAKE SURE YOU PICK UP YOUR OLD ONES!
That’s where the feedback is! They’re on the black desk…have been there all week 🙂

We’ve scoured the interwebs for you guys and come up with endless options for your Paleo Thanksgiving…assuming you’ll all feel so great at the end of this challenge you’ll want to continue through Thanksgiving and beyond!

Why not start with a whopper!

There are a ba-zillion Paleo Blogs out there. Most are pretty good – not necessarily selling anything, just sharing recipes, stories and tips to stay paleo. PaleoPlan is one of those, the the only thing they sell is their eBook, and it’s a worth the read.

Here, they provide a 20 page document detailing and entire Thanksgiving – very Paleo – from appetizer to dessert. Can’t get any easier than that!

PALEO PLAN THANKSGIVING

And here’s a last minute addition from The Food Lovers Kitchen/aka Primal Palate..a whole Thanksgiving!!

STUFFING! I NEEEEED STUFFING!

Well, don’t waste your time on “Paleo-bread-based stuffing”. Paleo bread is more fat than starch, and it just doesn’t do justice if you were raised on stale bread stuffing. HOWEVER, many of the sausage-based stuffings in Paleo-land are just as savory and obviously healthier! Here are a few:

Some of you may be familiar with the book Paleo Comfort Foods – richer, heavier recipes for those that like the meat and potato scene. Their Paleo Stuffing is probably one of the Farina’s favorites.

The Food Lover’s Primal Palate’s Blog (and book titled the same…where we got that great Carrot Cake recipe from the last challenge)…these people know their stuff. They’re methodical about the recipes and images – not a lot of “bs” chatter – just paleo – refreshing! Sometimes we don’t really care what “they” had on their to do list for the day, we just want information. They host a wonderful Turkey AND Stuffing recipe:

PALEO THANKSGIVING SIDE DISHES

For Thanksgiving sides, think “hearty”, like Brussels Sprouts cooked in Bacon, or Sweet Potatoes (mashed, cubed, hashed, or in a pie!), Cauliflower (steamed, roasted, mashed (for those who need “white” potato-like stuff), Green Beans, Cranberries. Fill you salad with seasonal veggies like julienned zucchini, dried, sweetened with apple juice cranberries, crispy fried capers (oh yea baby!), slivered almonds or pecans…load it up!
